Billboard being used:
In order to see what my billboard looks like, I used an online "sign maker" off Google and uploaded my billboard to a building to see how it would look and if it looks right and stands out etc.
I feel that it stands out very well particularly the characters and the name of the show which was most important.
Health & Safety: Drug Scene
In one of the story-lines of Fresher's, Our character Sam is a drug dealer; therefore it was important and effective for the audience to see some kind of "prop" that enabled Sam to look like he was dealing with "Drugs" ...
In order to make this scene look as realstic as possible we used "Iburprofen" and put them in a small bag; there is a slide show below to show how we did this as safe as possible and there was no actual harmful drugs involved within this scene.

Ancillary Product: Billboard Poster
Here is my final FRESHER'S billboard poster with the changes made to what was said on my Audience Feedback; the images in the background of the poster have now been faded, which enables the characters to stand out on the poster and also the E4 Branding to stand out even more. I am pleased with the overall outcome and would'nt make any more changes to my poster.

Audience Profile Mood:
Above is a picture I have uploaded of a "Mood Board" for my audience profile that I created myself. The images in the mood board reflect the things that my audience of Freshers are interested in. These are products and things that I hope are reflected within my trailer as brand identity, I believe some of the thing on the mood board are relatable towards other E4 programmes which is the brand FRESHERS is going to be shown on.
- Social Networking sites - Twitter, Facebook
- Baseball caps - Fashionable
- Latest Blackberry
- Make up/Looking good - Lipstick

PLANNING: Scripts
Below are the scripts used in order to make our trailer; We had to make scripts for our story lines in order so we knew what to say when acting. Having a script also helped ourselves get into our "characters" by the language that you had to say/speak like.
Drug Storyline Script:
GRIMMERS: "So we going out tonight?"
MON: "Ermm... Yeah i guess so"
GRIMMERS: "Well I got us these..."
*GRIMMERS HOLDS DRUG BAG INFRONT OF MON'S FACE*
MON: "I've told you before, I'm not into that stuff..."
GRIMMERS: "We never have any fun anymore"
GRIMMERS: "I thought you wanted to be with me?"
*GRIMMERS PUSHES MON AGGAINST WALL*
MON: "Sam....Stop!"
Gay Storyline Script:
SOPH: "So didn't you meet up with her last night?"
JP: "HER?"
SOPH: "You've actually been seeing guy's without telling me?"
JP: "Yeah. I've been seeing guys for a while"
Run-away Storyline Script:
For this story line we didnt use a script; as both of our characters were not filmed together we thought it would be more effective to not have a script and to just film Hal leaving the house in silence - as she is running away from home.
Casting:
Meet Sam also known as "Grimmers" as his nickname.
Sams personality is moody and can get angry when he doesnt get what he wants. His girlfriend is Monica in the show (Freshers). Sam attempts to force Monica on drugs quite alot which has caused alot of conflict on their relationship with him forcing her and also his drug taking.
In order to characterise "Sam" and bring him into his role of the drug dealing character; costume was important: We dressed him in all black and dull colours as well as with a baseball cap on to slightly hide his face in order to disguise himself slightly and to show his hidden life to drug dealing.
Monica/ Mon - Sams Girlfriend:
Meet Monica also known with the nickname of "Mon".
Monica is Sam's drug dealer girlfriend, she is frightened of Sam as he constantly forces drug's onto her in order to "have fun" together. Sam is forceful onto Monica and she is known to be the vunerable one in the relationship.
In order to get Monica into her character role we dressed her in her costume as a "normal teenaged girl" which consisted of jeans a t-shirt and a leather jacket, very day-to-day and casual. This gives off to the audience that Monica is just a normal teenaged girl from the way she dresses, we also decided on minimum makeup so that her scared/frightened emotions on her face show well through and also how fragile she can be towards Sam. Her hair was also just down and straight.
Josh/ JP - The Gay
Meet Josh who is addressed by the nickname of JP by the characters of the story
JP is best friends with Sophie one of the girls in the group of people in Fresher's, he has been struggling with his sexuality for a while and has previously had girlfriends. Within the trailer of Freshers it comes out that JP is gay and has been dating boys for a while, the shock hits Sophie quite alot and therefore creates conflict between their friendship as she feels betrayed.
In order to get JP into his character role; we dressed him from how we have seen sterotypes in other programmes such as Desperate Scousewives with the gay married couple. We dressed JP in tight denim fitted jeans along with a pink polo top buttoned up to the top and tucked into his jeans, "geek" glasses were also used to exagerate his appearance on film.
Sophie/Sophs - JP's Best Friend
Meet Sophie whos name is sometimes shortened to "Soph's" by friends within her social group.
Soph's is JP's best friend and has been for many years, she has always been around to give JP advise with girls and any other issues which have affected him, she has always been a big part of his life and is aware of everything going on in JP's life with being his best friend. Within my trailer there is a deep shock for Soph as she finds out that JP has been dating "guys for a while" which creates conflict in her friendship with JP as she has been lied to by her best friend.
Soph's is a normal teenaged girl therefore we dressed her character role we dressed her in her costume as a "normal teenaged girl" which consisted of jeans and a top, very day-to-day and casual with her normal hair also as she has been filmed in a house environment we wanted her to look comfortable.
Harriett/Hal - The Runaway Teen
Meet Harriett who is also referred to as "Hal" her characters nickname in Freshers.
Hal has been struggling with family problems at home for a long time and also arguments with her sister and issues within home-life have made things unbearable for her to cope, Hal is in the movement of moving out of her family home and running away by leaving a letter for her Sister to find whilst she has packed her bags and left for good. Hal's personality isnt really shown at first as she is deeply un-happy and that is all their is to show.
As for Hal's costume we decided on dressing her in her parka coat as she will be travelling for a while if she is running away and as for props she had her mobile phone which was most valuable to herself along with her bag of clothing and stuff that she was taking with her on her travels.
Shadia/Shad - Hal's Sister
Meet Shadia, also know as Shad as her nickname in Freshers.
Shad is Hal's concerned sister in Freshers, she has also been struggling with family problems aswell as Hal. However Hal is Shad's only sibling therefore she is concerned about Hal leaving the house and leaving Shad on her own, this is effecting her quite alot and she isnt to sure what to do.
Shad is a normal teenaged girl in a home environment and has just woken up, therefore we dressed her character role we dressed her in her costume as a "normal teenaged girl" which consisted sweatpants and a top, very casual with her normal hair also as she has been filmed in a house environment we wanted her to look comfortable and like she had just woken up.
Planning of song choices: Freshers Trailer
Song Choices:
Song choice number 1: Pixie Lott - What do you take me for
Why I liked it:
I liked this song because it is a new released song in the chart which is popular with the audience of teenagers that I am aiming for, I thought that It would work well with my trailer in order to aim a song that is new and up-beat and can keep my audience keen to watch the rest of the trailer. With regards to the lyrics of the song I believe that they are very relatable for example; the lyrics "What do you take me for" relate strongly to the specific characters within my trailer such as Harriett who plays the role of "Hal" a run-away teen, this is relatable to Hal as she is being underestimated by her sister within the story line and then runs away from home.
Why I didnt like it:
Reasons for why I didnt like the song and didnt you this song for my trailer is because I wanted something more up beat and had abit of a fast pace within the song in order for it to be in time with the drama/chaos within the trailer, I believe that this song didnt fit in with the timing of my shots and there is also a "rap" verse which didnt work very well, therefore I decided to continue researching other songs for my trailer. Why I liked it:

Why I didnt like it:
Song choice number 2: Scouting For Girls - Elvis Ain't Dead
Why I liked it:
In order to try all different types of genres of Music and to find out the best possible song for my trailer, I decided to mix up my research and researched a fairly old indie inspired song by a memorable band named Scouting For Girls, the band used to be very well known and popular within the age group of my audience (15-20). The song "Elvis Ain't Dead" is quite feel-good which is what I aspire for my trailer in order to keep my audience watching and keen on my soap opera.
Why I didnt like it:
The lyrics however within this song unfortunately have no relation towards my trailer, I also felt that when watching my trailer with the song it felt abit mix-matched and "Random" which is not the effect I wanted from the song for my trailer, I want it to run through smoothly and also connect well with my trailer. I also felt it wasnt "Heavy" enough for my trailer as there is alot going on within my trailer I wanted something with a harder noise and less "Indie Influenced", this made the decision for myself that a band wouldnt be a good idea for my trailer as I need something more up to date and modern. Therefore I decided to not use this song for my final piece.

Song choice number 3: Labrinth ft. Tinie Tempah - Earthquake
Why I liked it and chose it:
I instantly loved this song with my trailer, The opening of the song kicked off my trailer perfectly with a dramatic beat and a mixture of sounds within the music. There is a lot of dramatic shots within my trailer with bad attitude faces being displayed through out the majority of it with the negativity of the story lines therefore I felt that the lyrics "I predict an earthquake" fitted in extremely well as my trailer feels as if it is going to be an "earthquake" with the amount of drama and chaos going on within the story line. I felt that some parts of the lyrics didnt fit in with the shots however, but I instantly enjoy the start and end of this song with my trailer.
What I changed:
I am very happy with my chose in using this song for my final piece, as I feel that it worked exceptionally well through out the trailer, However my main appeal to this song was the actual music and beat to the song rather than the actual song lyrics. I particularly enjoyed the first part of the song before the lyrics enter the song. Therefore I experimented on "Garage Band" and decided to repeat the first part of the song before the lyrics come in and repeat that music throughout the 90 seconds of the trailer. Once I did this I straight away put it into my trailer and played it through several times to see if it worked and I felt that it worked perfectly, alot better than the song with lyrics in. Below is a YouTube video of my final piece with the changes made to the song.

Ancillary Product: Magazine Planning - VISION
Making my ancillary product
View more presentations from sophiepaigegriffiths.
For my first ancillary product, I chose to do a Television Magazine named "VISION", with its main feature being “FRESHERS”, I have chosen a classier Television magazine which I asprie to produce this is because I feel it relates better to my soap opera. The following magazine below (Fabulous) is my inspiration for how I aspire "VISION" to look, I admire the simplicity of the magazine as I feel it reflects elegance and is also classier which is what I plan on creating for "VISION" with a similar aspired layout for the front cover of the magazine.
For my magazine research (Ancillary Product), even though I feel that my magazine is well branded with a classier styled Television Guide magazine I still researched magazines which are different so that I have the awareness of different Soap Operas are spoken about within different types of TV magazines, However I produced a "Trashy" styled magazine as a practice for my ancillary product, My magazine practice was named "Soap Week" and was trashy from the use of BOLD colours and a cheap button stating that the magazing was woth "42p". The proffessional classier magazine above is something that I am going to follow by my ancillary product as from my research I have found out that "FRESHERS" is well suited for a classier styled magazine with its modern, in fashion and up-to-date style through out the trailer.
Ancillary Product: Magazine Cover - VISION
Here is one of my ancillary products, a Television Magazine Front Cover named VISION. I have featured one of our main characters of FRESHERS on the cover of Vision and this month of the magazine is a "Freshers Special". I am exceptionally pleased with the turn out of my elegant television magazine as I feel my Soap Opera reflects the style of the magazine well and they also fit together perfectly. With regards to fonts and the photograph that I chose out of the many few; I am exceptionally happy with the final result.

Second Ancillary Product Planning: Freshers Poster
With regards to the inspiration for my second ancillary product: I strongly admired the Skins poster. With the close up of a specific main character and then a back effect of other characters creeping into the poster. This is something that I am going to consider for the layout of my poster portraying each character at different angles and going further back in the style of a backwards triangle. I have made a basic structured plan of the layout I am going to use my poster, With regards to the images of my characters, I plan on taking them all separately with an emotion that relates to their character for example Harriett will look extremely moody and un-happy as she is a “run away teen”. The facial expressions of the characters will also allow the audience to get to know what each character is like (personality of the characters).
