Planning of song choices: Freshers Trailer
Song Choices:
Song choice number 1: Pixie Lott - What do you take me for
Why I liked it:
I liked this song because it is a new released song in the chart which is popular with the audience of teenagers that I am aiming for, I thought that It would work well with my trailer in order to aim a song that is new and up-beat and can keep my audience keen to watch the rest of the trailer. With regards to the lyrics of the song I believe that they are very relatable for example; the lyrics "What do you take me for" relate strongly to the specific characters within my trailer such as Harriett who plays the role of "Hal" a run-away teen, this is relatable to Hal as she is being underestimated by her sister within the story line and then runs away from home.
Why I didnt like it:
Reasons for why I didnt like the song and didnt you this song for my trailer is because I wanted something more up beat and had abit of a fast pace within the song in order for it to be in time with the drama/chaos within the trailer, I believe that this song didnt fit in with the timing of my shots and there is also a "rap" verse which didnt work very well, therefore I decided to continue researching other songs for my trailer. Why I didnt like it:
Song choice number 2: Scouting For Girls - Elvis Ain't Dead
Why I liked it:
In order to try all different types of genres of Music and to find out the best possible song for my trailer, I decided to mix up my research and researched a fairly old indie inspired song by a memorable band named Scouting For Girls, the band used to be very well known and popular within the age group of my audience (15-20). The song "Elvis Ain't Dead" is quite feel-good which is what I aspire for my trailer in order to keep my audience watching and keen on my soap opera.
Why I didnt like it:
The lyrics however within this song unfortunately have no relation towards my trailer, I also felt that when watching my trailer with the song it felt abit mix-matched and "Random" which is not the effect I wanted from the song for my trailer, I want it to run through smoothly and also connect well with my trailer. I also felt it wasnt "Heavy" enough for my trailer as there is alot going on within my trailer I wanted something with a harder noise and less "Indie Influenced", this made the decision for myself that a band wouldnt be a good idea for my trailer as I need something more up to date and modern. Therefore I decided to not use this song for my final piece.

Song choice number 3: Labrinth ft. Tinie Tempah - Earthquake
Why I liked it and chose it:
I instantly loved this song with my trailer, The opening of the song kicked off my trailer perfectly with a dramatic beat and a mixture of sounds within the music. There is a lot of dramatic shots within my trailer with bad attitude faces being displayed through out the majority of it with the negativity of the story lines therefore I felt that the lyrics "I predict an earthquake" fitted in extremely well as my trailer feels as if it is going to be an "earthquake" with the amount of drama and chaos going on within the story line. I felt that some parts of the lyrics didnt fit in with the shots however, but I instantly enjoy the start and end of this song with my trailer.
What I changed:
I am very happy with my chose in using this song for my final piece, as I feel that it worked exceptionally well through out the trailer, However my main appeal to this song was the actual music and beat to the song rather than the actual song lyrics. I particularly enjoyed the first part of the song before the lyrics enter the song. Therefore I experimented on "Garage Band" and decided to repeat the first part of the song before the lyrics come in and repeat that music throughout the 90 seconds of the trailer. Once I did this I straight away put it into my trailer and played it through several times to see if it worked and I felt that it worked perfectly, alot better than the song with lyrics in. Below is a YouTube video of my final piece with the changes made to the song.
