Branding: Title Cards - FRESHERS E4

Here are the Title Cards that I have created myself for the opening of my trailer (Freshers) and also the end of the trailer, I think its important to open and end the trailer with title cards as it gives the audience an awareness of what brand the programme is coming from - With regards to my Soap Opera "Freshers" it is well suited to be branded with E4 as I feel that my Soap relates strongly to issues which affect a younger generation of people; These types of issues such as Drugs, Sexual Gender and Running Away Teens are usually portrayed in E4 programmes as they are relateable for a younger audience - With programmes such as Skins, Hollyoaks ECT. On my ending title card I have also included a hashtag for Freshers with twitter being extremely popular it is a good communication network for the audience watching the programme, I have also included the E4 logo day and time, all for the audience's awareness of when the programme will be on and where.

FRESHERS Trailer - Costume planning

Costume

JOSH (JP)

-          Make up (bright colours)

-          Glasses

-          Tight clothes

-          Geeky glasses

We decided to put Josh in these clothes to stereotype him so the audience automatically pick up on his sexuality.

SAM

-          Cap to shadow face

-          Dark clothes

-          Hoody

-          Make up under eyes to darken

Sam wears dark clothes to connote danger and it creates dark atmosphere when the shot is on him because of the dark colours.

HARRIET

-          Big over sized coat

-          Holdall bag (stuffed with pillow)

-          Scarf

The scruffy look creates a homeless look to Harriett’s character and giving her a big holdall makes it clear to the audience that she’s running away.

MONICA

-          Jeans

-          Casual white t-shirt/top

-          Hoody

The use of the colour white within Monica’s outfit connotes innocence when Sam pressures her into taking the drugs.

SOPHIE

-          Everyday  casual

We kept Sophie wearing casual everyday clothes so the audience are directly drawn to Josh.

SHADIA

-          Jogging bottoms

-          Scruffy t-shirt

This creates the realism in the shot of Shadia also showing the audience she lives there.
